    Hey Will,
It is often recommended to take creatine and beta-alanine right before work-out. Does it really matter if I take those two at breakfast which is 1,5 hours before my workout?
    Thanks, much appreciated!

If you watch my free vids here and or read my articles on creatine here, you’ll find it does not matter when you take creatine.

    Hi Will,
Great interview! Is jumping rope a good HIIT excersite, and is 30 sec jumping – 1 min rest ok?
    Thanks,
    Zoran

Could be fine, but as Dr Ryan explained, what you use to do HIIT is less important then if the intensity is high enough to get the effects you want from it. For some, that would work well, for others unable to get their hear rate high enough from jumping rope, not sufficient.

Nice broadcast Will. I’ve always felt Hiit delivered the best results, I’m pleased with the ongoing research on it. You and others are doing a good job to get the word out that slow redundant plodding on a treadmill is NOT going to get them the body they think it will. I will reference this one on my website. (AgeReductionSite.com) Good work

During decades of different forms of exercises (running, swimming, cycling, weight lifting, tennis, etc.) and strategies the maximum I could achieve was much better endurance but almost zero change in body composition. Tabata Protocol (aka HIIT) changed the picture. From close to be a fat shape I became close to an athletic shape with several inches smaller trousers. As not genetically gifted and after many injuries not too much has been left to do, but the HIIT method could be used everywhere if you can move at all. I only believe what I experienced.
Unfortunately, I am not auditive type, so voice interviews for me, as this one, are boring and pointless. The essence if there were any, disappears in the continuous bla-bla. A written summary would make it clear if there were any contents. Nowadays, so called researchers are presenting copycats rather then their real findings if they could find anything at all. They make fals conclusions and presenting to the publick as outstanding results when they used a population as big as around ten, lol. Statistical analphabets as most of the people are can accept that falsification. In reality they are worthless, and puts question marks of any interview with so called researchers. Coach Tabata did not needed only true results on the field.

I’m glad you have gotten good results from HIIT, but your comments (comments on a show you didn’t listen to no less..) are wrong. There’s plenty of primary researchers out there doing research on HIIT, and or other exercise modalities, and Dr. Smith-Ryan is one of them. Her lab does research on HIIT specifically. Dr Tabata is far from the only researcher doing unique research with HIIT style training.
      Good luck with your training.

Excellent show, Will! Good information on incorporating HIIT with weight training. I would like to know a little more about frequency. I train with weights four days/week — Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri — and do a lot of high-intensity stuff (sets to failure, drop sets, etc.). I would like to add some HIIT, but, since I’m already doing a lot of high-intensity weight training, I’m concerned about how much is too much. I realize this is a highly individual thing (I’m 61 and have been lifting for many years), but, based on your experience, and in general terms, what do you think?

Is your commentary on HIIT training available in printed form… I don’t have access to hearing it.

I don’t believe so, but a transcript of the show is not a bad idea. That would be something you’d want to request of the TalkRadio site where the show is hosted.

    Hey Will,
I agree with some of the others, that having this in an audio (that is over 40-minutes long), is not the best way to spread this information. You guys have a lot of unnecessary dialogue in this, and I found myself skipping around, so I could finally just get to the research findings. I totally understand why you’re doing the show the way you’re doing it, however having an abstract beneath the audio would be nice, especially for those of us who do not have the time (or in some cases, patience) to listen on and on.

It’s one of those issues Charles where different people absorb information best from different sources. People have been asking me for years to do a podcast show like that as they told me they didn’t absorb info well from articles. If a person wants to actually read the primary lit, and has the background to do it, that’s probably the most efficient way to get to the “meat” of the topic for those that don’t enjoy listening in on the conversation. I don’t control what goes under the show page BTW.
Personally, I think they should have a feedback section below each show.
I have decades worth of written materials for people to read here, books both print and digital, 200+ vids, facebook pages, etc, etc. Now it’s onto podcast where people get to listen in on a conversation between me and genuine experts and researchers on a given topic.
Most shows are 60 mins BTW, so Im 20 short of the norm on that show, but it’s supposed to be 30 actually.
But, podcast are very popular and people look forward to hearing their favorite people so for some, seems exactly the venue they prefer to get their info on a given topic.
But, I just started this project and have refining to do no doubt. 🙂

Will, great show! I was wondering if you had any pre and post nutrition advice for HIIT? I’m assuming it is the same as for someone trying to gain LBM, but of course with HIIT most are trying to lose body fat and generally the training period for HIIT is shorter. Also I read an article that seemed to be counter to conventional wisdom. Would appreciate your view. Thanks

    Hey Will,
Absolutely fantastic info! Clarified a lot of various info that I heard elsewhere
with most of it bring off base, no surprise to you I am sure. Keep up the great work

I found HIIT routine in your hybrid training program.. Is that can be use for a skinny person who is trying to gain muscle mass? I’m thinking to do that after i finish the Charles Poliquin’s program.
