The Big Picture of Permanent Weight Loss

The associated video below summarizes much of what is contained in the full article below. So, for the short version, watch the vid, but for the complete info, I highly recommend reading the full article. It could change your life!

Learning Permanent Weight Loss!

Most people who read my articles and e-books know me as a science guy who likes to quote studies and apply research to everyday problems such as weight loss, bodybuilding, and other health/fitness related topics. However, sometimes you have to step back from the science and look at the big picture to help bring people back into focus, so they can see the forest for the trees, so to speak.

For most people reading this article, finding an effective diet that works most of the time must seem as complicated as nuclear physics. It’s not, but there are a bewildering number of choices for diets out there. High fat or no fat? High carbohydrate or no carbohydrate? Low protein or high protein? To make matters worse, there are a million variations and combinations to the above diet scenarios to add to the confusion. It seems endless and causes many people to throw up their hands in frustration and give up. In this article I will attempt to change all that.

Tips For Staying Lean

“What goes up,  must come down.”  When ‘70’s music sensation Billy Preston immortalized those words in his catchy tune,  he must have been thinking about some of the professional bodybuilders gracing the posing dais these days.  In case you haven’t noticed,  it’s in vogue again to “bulk up”  or should I say, “pork out”  in the so-called off-season. This was a common practice from the 1950’s through the 1970’s,  but I thought that common sense had prevailed during the bodybuilding renaissance of the 1980’s and that bulking up was as passé as bell-bottom jeans.  I was wrong!  These days, you’d think that reverse anorexia and dysmorphia were spreading like SARS in the pro bodybuilding community.  I mean,  in the off season,  some of these guys look like they are pitching their tents at the local all-you-can-eat buffet!

Report Claims Diet and Exercise Take Off Weight Equally

Study Suggest Diet and Exercise Equal For Weight Loss..

Gang, I have a feeling many of you have seen this report, or one like it, floating around on the ‘net right now regarding a study that (supposedly) found diet or exercise takes off weight equally? Although the media often does a poor job of reporting on nutritional research accurately, they do a truly terrible job of it here. However, it’s not totally their fault as the researcher themselves totally missed the mark on the results of their own study, which is not uncommon BTW.

I have the full paper and it’s not as bad as that press release, but it’s close. It’s an example of a study that is very well done, but the underlying assumptions are wrong, so they come to all the wrong conclusions from the results they got, and stranger, made comments on results they didn’t actually test for!

Exercise In A Bottle Found?

Miracle Weight Loss In A Pill?

The holy grail of drugs for a pharmaceutical company would be to finally discover a compound that mimics the metabolic effects of exercise on metabolism. It appears they are getting much closer. Exercise in a pill, or exercise in a bottle, all promising to cause massive weight loss, have been promised by various supplement companies for years. They were of course scamming people, but I digress… Back to this new research. The research is mice so far, but interesting and worth keep an eye on. However, it should be noted, plenty of drugs and other compounds have worked great for weight loss in animals only to find they don’t work in humans. The drug is called:
5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide-1-β-D-ribofuranoside (AICAR), and research is on going.

Brink’s Unified Theory of Nutrition

When people hear the term Unified Theory, some times called the Grand Unified Theory, or even “Theory of Everything,” they probably think of it in terms of physics, where a Unified Theory, or single theory capable of defining the nature of the interrelationships among nuclear, electromagnetic, and gravitational forces, would reconcile seemingly incompatible aspects of various field theories to create a single comprehensive set of equations.
